New Year's Hours

CIA will be closing at 5:00pm on Saturday, December 31st and will be closed Sunday, January 1st for New Year's Day. Normal hours will resume Monday, January 2nd. Happy New Year from all of us at CIA!

WINGS Seminar Location 1/3/12

We will be holding our first WINGS Seminar of 2012 at the Department of Airports as our conference room remodel is running behind. The Department of Airports is on the corner of Durley Avenue and Airport Way upstairs in the brown office building. We hope to see you January 3rd from 7:00 to 9:00pm!

January & February Fly-ins Scheduled

We will be going to Death Valley for our annual brunch fly-in Sunday, January 22nd! Please plan to arrive by 10:45am in order to catch the 5 minute shuttle up to the Inn for our 11:00am brunch. This trip is very popular so please book your airplane now! If you'd like to fly out the day before, Death Valley is a beautiful resort with two great hotels - the Inn & the Ranch!

We are headed to Kern Valley for February's Fly-in on Saturday, February 11th. We will enjoy breakfast at their airport cafe at 9:00am so plan your CMA departure time accordingly. If you have not yet received your Kern Valley checkout with CIA please book an instructor. By doing the checkout that day you'll receive one hour free instruction (valid 2/11/12).

We will likely schedule an overnight fly-in in March or April. Please send your destination suggestions to sarah@flycia.com!

Holiday Hours of Operation

Harris Ranch Fly-in Sunday, December 11th

Thanksgiving Day Operations

Thanksgiving is one of only three days per year that Channel Islands Aviation is closed. N2104H is back!

N2104H is back on line with a newly overhauled engine! Please plan your cross country flights in this airplane as it needs 25 hours of cross country time to break-in the new engine. We'll advise everyone as soon as this requirement has been met.

December Written Test Prep

We will be hosting another Written Test Prep for the Private Pilot Course December 2nd, 3rd & 4th! The class will be conducted by Mike Lozano, Chief Flight Instructor, and will be held in CIA's conference room from 8:00am to 5:00pm daily. Harris Ranch Fly-in December 3rd

$299 Written Test Prep Class

Please join us October 28, 29 & 30 for a Private Pilot Written Test Prep Class. Mike Lozano, Chief Flight Instructor will be conducting the course each day from 8:00am to 5:00pm with an hour lunch break. The course will be offered for $299 per person and we suggest each participant pick up the Gleim 2012 FAA Written Test Prep Handbook which retails for $19.95 in our pilot shop.

Redbird Intro Special

Wings Over Camarillo

This weekend is Camarillo's annual air show, August 20th & 21st. Gates will be open from 9:00am to 5:00pm daily with aerial demonstrations from 12:00 to 5:00pm. The airport will be closed during the aerial demonstrations so please plan your flying around those times. If you have any questions, please contact our front desk at (805) 987-1301 x 0.

CIA will be offering FREE 15 minute lessons in our Redbird Simulator during the show for participants 14 years of age or older. Sign-ups for each day will be taken at our booth on the grass at 9:00am.

We will have the following airplanes on display: 2011 Socata TBM850, 2007 Cessna T182T, Conquest 441 and two Britten Norman Islanders.

Ventura County Boat Show

Visit us this week, Thursday through Sunday, at the Ventura County Boat Show in the Channel Islands Harbor. We will have a booth on display for flight training, aircraft sales and flights to the Channel Islands. The event will run from 12:00 to 7:00pm on 7/14 & 7/15, 10:00am to 7:00pm on 7/16 and 10:00am to 5:00pm on 7/17. We hope to see you there!

Redbird Simulator here soon!

We have ordered a Redbird Simulator! This FAA AATD simulator has two avionics configurations - one as a Cessna 182 G1000 with the GFC700 Auto Pilot and the other a Cessna 172 with traditional instruments and a Garmin 430/530. The hourly rental rate will be $65 per hour solo retail, $55 per hour solo for Club Members and $50 per hour when paired with a CIA instructor (instructor time not included). We will be offering this simulator with a CIA instructor for a limited time at $99 per hour as an introductory special! Currency & Dispatch Policy Changes

Currency is now 3 landings within 60 days in a CIA airplane for single-engine airplanes. A dispatch by a CIA instructor will no longer be required on local flights. By definition "local" is CMA, OXR, SZP, SBA and VNY. CIA dispatches will still be required for cross country flights outside the local area. Father's Day Poker Run Fly-in & BBQ

2011 Skycatcher Has Landed!

Our brand new 2011 Cessna Skycatcher 162 LSA (N5212Y) has made its journey from its birthplace in Wichita, Kansas to its new home at the Camarillo Airport (KCMA).  N5212Y will be getting some avionics upgrades installed starting on the 7th and will be available to rent starting March 12th. Don't forget to attend one of our Skycatcher Ground Schools and obtain your Checkout in N5212Y by one of our CFI's!
